March 22nd - What's Up?

It just keeps getting busier and more exciting around here. On Saturday I went to Portland to meet with actressCandy Clark Candy Clark (American Graffiti, The Man Who Fell To Earth, Blue Thunder, etc.) who is writing a blurb for "Fenders, Fins & Friends: Confessions of a Car Guy". In the past she's been a guest on the "Vintage Vehicle Show" and she continues to be a part of the car scene. Candy often appears at car shows and it's obvious that she enjoys the company of the car crowd as much as they enjoy her.

Heidi VanHorne Van HorneA few days ago I spoke with Houston Chronicle reporter Heidi VanHorne who is also a busy actress and a very well known model. Heidi read some of the book manuscript and has graciously agreed to write a blurb for the book's cover. Lee Iacocca sent me a letter that includes a blurb that will be on the front cover so Heidi will be in good company. In the past she has written two flattering articles about the "Vintage Vehicle Show" and my involvement in the collector car culture.

"Vintage Vehicle Show" producer Tim Stansbury and I have opened an account at where full length episodes of the show are now available. This on-line availability is in addition to the 200 show segments that are posted on YouTube and, of course, the various television stations that carry the show.

1966 El Camino ChevroletThe book's editor and I have been working on tuning up and repairing some of my previous writings. The book will contain 180 to 200 stories and essays about the various misadventures that my friends and I have been involved in from childhood up to today. The story "El Camino Errand" was written yesterday and is about my short career at an automotive glass and upholstery shop. One day my boss sent me on an errand to get a "glass stretcher". The trip turned out better for me than it did for him.

This is the first blog that I've ever written. I used to think that a blog was something that gets in your nose when you have a bad cold. I hope this blog is more enjoyable than that kind of a blog.
